Submission Spotlight!

It's Sunday evening and you know what that means at The Paper Variety!

Time for our..

Abby chose to feature Sharla's "Friends" layout. Love the mix of stars, hearts and bows.. the sweet color combo.. and the mini alphas to complete the title. Beautiful page!

I chose to feature Cheryl's friendship card. I love the mixed fonts of the sentiment and how it is cut an oval shape. Aren't those rolled flowers gorgeous? I also like how the pearls are repeated in the center, as well as on the top left. Great job!

Congratulations Sharla and Cheryl!!

Here is a blinky for your blogs :)

Friendship Challenge!

Are you ready for another fun challenge? This week, I have a quote to inspire you:

Let this piece of wise decor inspire your creativity with a friendship card, layout or project. Use the quote as your journaling or sentiment - or substitute your own favorite friendship saying.

I am so excited to announce a new sponsor to The Paper Variety - Crop Chocolate!! They will generously award this week's prize to one lucky submission.

Wow! That's sweet enough to share with a friend ;) Be sure to check back Friday for more information on Crop Chocolate!

Now, see what our AMAZING designers created for this challenge.

Melissa said she "challenged herself" to use Echo Park's Wintertime collection in a different way. Love the result!

Shannon made this gorgeous wall hanging - so gorgeous that there are several of us who would like our own *hint hint* ;)

Jan said, "Whenever I see a stitching sampler like the inspiration piece, my mind goes back to the time when cross stitching was my "go to" hobby. I loved working with needle and thread and truth be told, I still love the hoops. I decided I wanted to use one for my layout this week. These two are cousins, but friends too. They love to get together to hang out and play. I love the bird paper by Cosmo Cricket and it, along with this cute photo of Brian and Maggie, inspired my quote."

Mindy said, "I loved the inspiration quote, but I have so many other favorites too that I couldn't choose :D  So I came up with a way to put them & some of my closest friends together!"

Patti said, "I recycled a wall hanging in my bedroom to make this quote wall art. I altered five small clipboards with some of my short, favorite quotes, and then mounted them to the inside of the original wall hanging, which I painted black. It was my goal to keep this project simple so that the quotes would remain the focal point."

Tessa said, "The quotation inspired me to think about friends we don't get to see very often.  My husband's cousin has three great kiddos that my boys just love to play with.  We hadn't seen them in a very long time until this past summer, when we got reacquainted at a pool party.  It was like making new friends all over again, and now that they are a little bit older, my boys remember their cousins and ask about them all the time."

I used Sassafrass Lass' "Mix and Mend" collection to create this sentimental layout. It will eventually be a gift for a friend who reads my blog, so I no photo and some computer text where the personal touches will be :)

Are you inspired to create a friendship project? Use the following quote (or another favorite) as the "theme" of your card, layout or other paper art.

Link your project before Sunday evening for an opportunity to be featured for our "Submission Spotlight". However, you have until Tuesday at NOON eastern time to win a $50 gift certificate to Crop Chocolate!

One entry per person please.  Review the rest of our guidelines here.

Spotlights!

Soo many beautiful entries this week!
I do believe this just may be the most difficult week we've ever
had to pick just 2 spotlights! Fabulous layouts, everyone!

It's time to feature two talented paper crafters!

Suzanne chose to feature Evelyn's "Stealing Cinderella" layout.
I love that song and it is PERFECT for this sweet layout.
The lace border makes it so special.

Abby chose to feature Wendy's "Gone Sailing" layout. First of all,
I absolutely love anything nautical! But what really caught my eye was
Wendy's roped dock posts and wood grain scallops. Beautiful!

Congrats Evelyn & Wendy!

~Inspiration~

Check out these gorgeous DT examples!!
I used these pics that I took of my sweet girls on their first days of school (they started one day apart) along with October Afternoon's Report Card collection, which I think was perfect for them. I really like how my page came out and I even played around with making a new flower! :) Also, I used a technique I learned from our very own Abby where you use circle punches, a bigger circle of whatever size you need, and some really good adhesive to create your own custom scalloped circle. It takes a little bit of time but works and looks great! -April

Lisa
these 2 girls do love to play together! my "g" girls are both fun and sweet and full of energy! they brighten every day! i knew the page needed to be as BOLD, yet sweet as they are. i loved added little patterned paper circles here and there mixed with buttons and added hand sewing, too. -Lisa

Marilyn
I made this page about my daughter and her friend.  These girls are together
since Kindergarten until now. I remembered when they played with dolls..
now they're two pretty teenagers.  They are the Best Friends!  -Marilyn

Suzy
This is what my lil' girl looks like everyday with her brightest smile always makes us laugh every time we saw her, she's a cheerful and cutie little girl! This photos is taken Fall last year, the one on the left is a day after she got a haircut and on the right is before she got the haircut. :) -Suzy
During christmas, we went to Winter Wonderland Puerto Rico, this was a seasonal indoor attraction with fake snow and some snow related attractions. There was snow characters like Rudolph in the photo that were available to say Hi! to the kids. As soon as I saw this fun sketch, I knew I had to use this die cut paper from Fancy Pants Hot Chocolate collection! The snowflakes were raw chipboard sprayed with "Jack Frost" mist. The buttons have silver glitter! -Yara

I love working with sketches and this was a really fun one! I used papers and embellishments from Fancy Pants' "It's Your Day" collection  -Amy

My son and my nephew with reindeer antlers - typical toddler with his fingers up his nose lol. I absolutely love this Echo Park collection - so full of bright colors! I kinda went crazy with my i-rock, too - but who doesn't love alot of bling bling!? -Abby

Let's get started!!
